About Kerepeti Te Peke
Northern Advocate 26th September 1924. Ngunguru News. Aged Maori's Death. Early on Sunday morning their passed away the oldest Maori in the district, Kerepeti te Peke, son of Motu te Peke, a rangatira of the old school. Better known as " Cribbage ". He was married twice and had one son by the first wife. The second was a half-caste, a daughter of Amos Ryland, a pit sawyer in the early days. The issue of the second marriage was 18 children, eleven of whom, eight sons and three daughters survive. His wife predeceased him some 11 years. He was buried in the Ngunguru Cemetery.
