Executive summary: Mike Seaver on Growing Pains
A television actor in his youth, Cameron performed on the family sitcom Growing Pains, and had modest film success in the body-swapping comedy Like Father Like Son, opposite Dudley Moore. His acting career declined in the 1990s, and Cameron now uses his celebrity to promote Christian fundamentalism. He played the lead in the film adaptation of Tim LaHaye's Left Behind -- a post-rapture fantasy where the UN Secretary-General is the Antichrist -- and leads an evangelical ministry, the preposterously-named Way of the Master.
