Alamosa, Colorado (AP) - Kit Carson, III, one of eight grandchildren of frontier scout and guide Kit Carson, died Thursday after a brief illness. He was 91.
He was born June 30, 1883, at Fort Garland, Colorado, to Billy and Pascuela Tobin Carson.
Mr. Carson was raised by his maternal grandfather, Tom Tobin, another western pioneer.
Mr. Carson served as Conejos County clerk and recorder for many years and was active in other areas of local politics.

Kit Carson grandson dies at 91
Alamosa, Colorado (AP) - Kit Carson III, one of eight grandchildren of famed frontier scout and guide Kit Carson, died Thursday after a brief illness. He was 91.
He was born June 30, 1883, at Fort Garland, Colorado, to Billy and Pascuela Tobin Carson.
Carson was raised by his maternal grandfather, Tom Tobin, another well-known western pioneer.
Carson served as Conejos County clerk and recorder for many years and was active in other areas of local politics.
He is survived by his widow, Eloisa, a sister, a son, and two daughters.
Funeral services were scheduled Monday morning at Sacred Heart Church.

Alamosa, Colorado (UPI) - Kit Carson III, a grandson of his frontier Indian scout namesake, will be buried in this southern Colorado town Monday. Carson died Thursday at the age of 91.
