K. T. ROSTAD, M. D., proprietor of drug store, Blanchardville, Blanchard Township, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, was born 01 May 1848. [Wisconsin became a State 29 May 1848.] He came to America in 1854, and settled in Winnebago County, Illinois [which shares a border with Wisconsin], until 1856, and then removed to Rock County, Wisconsin. His [K. T. ROSTAD's] father died in 1854 in Winnebago County, Illinois, a short time after he came to this country. His [K. T. ROSTAD's] mother is now married to G. K. SPRINGER, and resides in Rock County [Wisconsin].
K. T. ROSTAD studied medicine with Dr. LUCKOW, of Rock County [Wisconsin], and then with Dr. LACY of Oxfordville [Orfordville, Rock County, Wisconsin, who by 1906 was practicing in Footville, Rock County, Wisconsin], and then in 1865 studied at Rush Medical College of Chicago [Cook County, Illinois. Afterward he practiced with Dr. LACY and studied until 1867. He then went to Mitchell County, Iowa, until 1868.
He [K. T. ROSTAD] then returned to Rock County [Wisconsin], and on 29 May 1869 married M. Sophia ROCKSTAD [a maiden name?], who was born 25 August 1846 in Norway and came to America in 1853. They [K. T. and M. Sophia ROSTAD] have four children: (1) Thurston J., born 05 March 1870; (2) George N., born 25 June 1874; (3) Alfred M., born 27 September 1877; and (4) Bennett F., born 11 December 1879.
In 1870 K. T. ROSTAD attended the Bennett Medical College of Chicago, graduating 23 May 1871. He then went to Davis [Stephenson County], Illinois, practiced until 1878, and then came to Blanchardville [Lafayette County, Wisconsin]. In politics Mr. ROSTAD is a Republican, and in religion, a Lutheran. He has held the office of school Director, and he owns town property.

Kittil and many of his family ( Torgun (grandmother), Torstein (Father), Guri (Mother), Torstein (Brother), Gunder Knudsson (uncle), Torgun (aunt), and Gunder and Torguns 7 children emigrated from Rollag in Norway in the spring 1854. His grandma, father, uncle and aunt and 4 of their children died on the travel of Cholera.
