Klaas Van Den Berg, 87, died Sunday at 7 p.m. in his home at 165 Fairbanks Ave. following a lingering illness. A retired farmer, he was born in the Netherlands Oct. 14, 1858, and came to this country when he was 11 years old.
Surviving are the widow, Nellie; five daughters, Mrs. Fred Vander Heuvel of route 4, Mrs. Albert A. Nienhuis of Holland, Mrs. John Nienhuis of Muskegon and Mrs. Edward Boeve and Mrs. Jack Van Zanten of Holland; three sons, Nicholas of Fremont, Gerrit of Holland and Tim of Zeeland; 30 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild; three stepchildren, Mrs. Charles Hamilton, Mrs. John Dekker and Jacob Wierstra, all of Grand Rapids.
He was a member of Seventh Reformed Church.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Dykstra funeral chapel, private, and at 2 p.m. from Seventh church with Rev. Paul Van Eerden officiating. Burial was in Pilgrim Home cemetery.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Jul 11 2022, 0:30:06 UTC
