"Klara Brunner was deported from Frankenthal to the internment camp in Gurs on 22 October 1940 and was held in Ilot I, Barrack 20. Since her son Ludwig was a guarantor for her entry into the United States, she applied for release to emigrate to the United States. On 11 April 1941 she received the USA visa in Marseille and on 26 July 1941 she travelled from Casablanca by ship "Nyassa" to New York, where she arrived on 9 August 1941 (communication from Roland Paul of the Institute for Palatine History and Folklore, in Kaiserslautern). She died around 1957 in Indianapolis/USA."
