Knud Bottolvson Ytre Tennefoss

Father (Knud) living at Sagi and from Tennefoss (Fossen) 1801 Census for Fossen has Knud Bottolphsen age 46 husband, tenant farmer with land and Giertrud Marchusdtr 46 Hans Kone. Three children living with them. Bottolph Knudsen age 1, Sigri Knudsdtr age 18 and Marta Knudsdtr age 7. Both in first wedlock (marriage)

The Balestrand bydgabook (Sagi/Sagen, page 473) says that Sagi was earlier called Sagen or Tennefoss-sagen. Sometimes it had a husman who had the farmland and another who was the sagmeister (saw master). Knut Tennefoss, the first owner at Sagi, who bought the place and sagbruket in 1805 (the saw bruk). So it does appear that Sagi was the "sawmill place", perhaps for the Tennefoss gard - they seem to have been next to each other.

In the Ytre Tennefoss chapter of the same book, bruk 1, page 466-467, it says that Knut Botolvson Tennefoss, born 1755, was first married to Gjertrud Markusdtr. and lived at Sagi, likely operating the sagbruket. Gjertrud died in 1817 leaving her husband and 4 children: Botolv, who got the farm, Inger, unmarried (I think that this may have been Anikka' mother, Ingrid), Marta, married to Sylfest Husabø and lived at Sagi, and Brita, married to Endre Hermundson Nokken. Knut was later married to Åsa Kjellsdtr. Tryti, but they had no children. Marriage records has Aase Kieldd married in 1818 with Knud living at Tennefossen. He died in 1838.

Another source for Botolv lists his parents as Knut Botolvson and Gjertrud Markusdtr. He was born March 22, 1801. They were at Tennefoss-Sagi. Other children Markus, 1790, Marit 1791, Marta, 1794 and Durdei, 1796. Another Markus born to father Knut Markusson and Inger born 1781 to Knut Fosse. All living at Sagi.
