Knut Farstvedt was a civilian during World War II. Knut was captured by Imperial Japan while living in Wake Island. Knut's capture was first reported to the International Committee of the Red Cross on March 26, 1943, and the last report was made on October 1, 1945. Based on these two reports, Knut was imprisoned for at least 920 days (2 years and ~7 months), one of the longest durations of captivity recorded. Ultimately, Knut was executed or shot while attempting escape.
