About Knute Wing
Etnesoga III page 248 Osnes (41e).
Note: None of the Wing children who were born in Norway had assigned middle names. So 'Knute E Wing' is probably incorrect. I do not remember why I thought that Knute had a middle name, but in Norway his name was 'Knud' which was Americanized to 'Knute'. Perhaps Knute took a middle name at some point in his life or there was an extra 'e' that was erroneously applied. Whatever the case, I am going to remove the 'E' middle initial until some proof is shown as to the veracity of it.
Knute was also known for his ability to make and tune pianos. There were a number of WING pianos which I believe were built by Knute over his lifetime. I had a chance to purchase a WING upright piano at a store in Rochester, MN when we lived near there while I was working for IBM in Rochester. I asked the store owner to hold it for me, but when I returned with $300 that he was asking for it, he had already sold it. (At that time $300 was not that easy for me to come up with - plus I had to convince my wife to go along with the purchase. I still don't know how I had planned to take delivery because the piano was very heavy and we did not have our house yet to move it into.)
