Obituary Published in the Los Angeles Times on Jan. 2, 2009:
HIRSCH, Kurt Born July 8, 1924 in the Czech Republic, passed away at home in Camarillo, California December 26, 2008. Cherished husband of Barbara (Israel), father of Claudia, Tina and Gregory, proud Grandpa of eight, brother-in-law of Laura Israel Friedman. Kurt and his parents escaped from the Nazi occupation in 1939 and settled in New York. In 1943 he was drafted into the American Army and served as a Psychological Warfare Officer. He landed in a glider in Southern France in Nov. 1945, and was a prisoner of war interrogator. After the war he moved to Los Angeles where he had a very successful life insurance business. He retired to Camarillo in 1999 where he happily spent the rest of his life. He was charming, elegant, witty, and lit up a room when he walked in. He was a very special man, a kind and gentle man, a gift to all who knew him.
