About L.M.D. Gem Weller
Note by J.H. Ian/Sam Weller:
In United States, Border Crossings from Canada, 1895-1956 on Nov 11 1909 at Buffalo, New York, U.S.
- Lillian Weller, age 1 year, Female, Marital status: Single, Birth Circa 1908 at Red Deer Canada
About the 1909 photographs of Henry George and his wife Mary E. George (née Green) with the two little children:
Harry Ebenezer and Mabel Weller (née George) and their children T.H.B. [Bubbles] and L.M.D. [Gem] Weller had just arrived in UK from Canada. They were visiting Henry and Mary Elizabeth George (née Green], Mabel's parents. Gem told me she remembered this occasion well; she was wondering why "the aunts" were carrying the chair into the back garden. My father [born July 28, 1909] looks to be perhaps 3 or 4 months old, so this would have been in December 1909, making Gem [born July 9, 1908] about 16 months old.
(The 1911 Census lists the H.E. Weller family as living at Hither Green with the George family.)
In 1911 England & Wales Census:
Residence on Apr 2 1911: 25 Wellmeadow Road, Hither Green, Lewisham, London, England.
Head: Henry George (76). Wife: Mary Elizabeth George (76), Daughter: Mercy Ethel George (33) Marital status: Single. Daughter: Mabel Weller. Son in Law: Harry Ebenezer Weller (35) Company's Secretary, Granddaughter: Lilian Mary Doris Weller (2), Grandson: Thomas Harold Buxton Weller (1).
Note: There is an omission in the transcript of this 1911 Census record: Harry's wife Mabel Weller was there with the rest of her family, and is noted on the handwritten Census form.
