About LAW Yew Swee
Residence - "Yewham", Parry Road, Kuala Lumpur
Law Yew Swee was born in Penang and English educated in Penang Free School. From Penang he moved down to Kuala Lumur to seek his fortune. He was a Post Master before setting up his own import business under the name of Messrs L. Y. Swee Co. Ltd., at Market Street, Kuala Lumpur and later set up a branch in Penang under the charge of his brother Law Yew Hoe. The branch office was at 2 & 4 Che Em Lane, Penang.
He also supported the resolution of converting the Kuala Lumpur Sanitary Board into a Municipality.
After WWII, he managed to carry on his business both in Kuala Lumpur and Penang. Another branch of L.Y.Swee Ltd. Co. was set up in Pudu Road under the charge of his son, Law Joo Jin. Swee Electric Radio Service Sdn Bhd was also set up by him in Bukit Bintang Road, Kuala Lumpur, under the charge of his son, Law Joo Kooi, and a branch in Seremban. He also invested in land in Kuala Lumpur and built his mansion at 18 Parry Road, KL. A lane off Parry Road leading to all his properties was named Jalan Law Yew Swee in honour of him.
He was appointed Justice of Peace by the British Government in 1930s.

Mr. Law Yew Swee, proprietor of L. Y. Swee e Co., general importers and commission agents, of Kuala Lumpor, is a son of the late Mr. Law Seow Huck, of Pinang, in which place he was born in 1881 and educated.
He was in the service of the Selangor Government for six years, and then became private secretary to his Excellency the High Commissioner of the Siamese Western Malay States. This position he occupied for two years, after which he went as assistant manager of the wholesale department of Messrs. Chow Kit e Co. He remained there one year, and then founded the firm of Law Yew Swee e Co., dealers in wines and spirits, drapery and fancy goods, perfumery, hardware, paint, oilmen's stores, stationery, mining, planting, and building materials, and c. Mr. Law is a member of the Weld Hill Club.
