About LCpl. Robert McGavin Clark
Robert McGavin Clark was the son of William Robert Clark and Letitia Clark (nee Lyford) who had married in 1884. His parents were living at Matamata when he enlisted to serve during World War I. Robert saw action in Egypt with the New Zealand Rifle Brigade, and then Belgium. He was wounded in Belgium, and died of those wounds at the No. 44 Casualty Clearing Station in Belgium on 14 October 1917. Robert was buried in the Nine Elms British Cemetery.
