Following the death of her second husband in June 1557, Margaret Hamilton married Sir Patrick Whitelaw of that Ilk. The Scots Peerage, I, p. 193
25 April 1567: A charter by which Sir Patrick Whitelaw of that Ilk, with the consent of his wife, Lady Margaret Hamilton, has sold certain lands at Oldhamstocks in Berwickshire to William Arnot in Cocksburnspath and his wife Margaret Wallace, and their son John Arnot, burgess of Edinburgh.
