Lajos Werkner (October 23, 1883 in Budapest – November 12, 1943 in Budapest) was a Hungarian sabre fencer.
He won gold medals in Team Sabre at the 1908 and 1912 Olympic Games.[1]
At the 1908 London Games, his gold medal teammates included Jewish fencers Dr. Jenö Fuchs and Oskar Gerde, both International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame honorees, and Dezsö Földes. Werkner then competed in the individual sabre event and advanced to the final pool, where he finished in 8th place.
In 1912 at the Stockholm Games, his Jewish gold medal teammates were again Foldes, Fuchs, and Gerde. He also competed in the individual event, and again advanced to the final pool. Werkner finished 7th.
