About Landsman Paul Tobin

The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Landsman Paul Tobin, United States Navy, for gallant and heroic conduct while serving on board the U.S.S. Plymouth, Hamburg Harbor, 3 July 1871. Jumping overboard at the imminent risk of his life, Landsman Tobin, with a comrade, rescued from drowning one of a party who was thrown from a shore boat into a four-knot running tide while the boat was coming alongside the ship.
