About Lars Bäckström
Lars 22 år åkte från Göteborg med sin lillebror Johan 16 år plus en Carl Bergendahl 38 år, Årsunda till New York via Liverpool den 12 Maj 1881. Båten hette Marsdin, byggd i Hull, England. Destination var Marquette, Michigan. Denna stad ligger vid Lake Michigan inte långt från Minnesota gräns. Lars flyttade sen till Pipestone, Minnesota. Han gifte sig med en Christina, fick 6 barn varav ett var troligtvis dött från födelsen. Bror Anders emigrerade 29 Mars 1889 fråm Göteborg. Han åkte med båten "City of Paris" från Liverpool 3 April med ankomst till NY 11 April. Detta var 1:a resan "C of Paris" och blev den snabbaste. C o P innehade "Blue Ribbon" vid ett flertal tillfällen dvs snabbast över Atlanten. Anders hade destination Pipestone så det var så jag fann Lars. Anders flyttade sen vidare, dog i Seattle, Washington, gift med Lottie. Johan är åter i Sverige i folkbokföringen 1900, men sen försvinner han. Ej död i Sverige.
Lars 22 years went from Gothenburg with his brother John 16 years plus a Carl Bergendahl 38 years, Årsunda to New York via Liverpool May 12, 1881. The boat was called Marsdin, built in Hull, England. Destination was Marquette, Michigan. This town lies on Lake Michigan not far from the Minnesota border. Lars moved then to Pipestone, Minnesota. He married a Christina, had six children, of whom one had died at birth. Brother Anders emigrated March 29, 1889 from Gothenburg. He went with the boat "City of Paris" from Liverpool 3 April with the arrival in NY 11 April. This was the first trip "C of Paris" and was the fastest. C o P held a "Blue Ribbon" on several occasions that the fastest across the Atlantic. Anders had destination Pipestone so that was how I found Lars. Anders moved later on, died in Seattle, Washington, married to Lottie. John is back in Sweden in the population register in 1900, but then he disappears. Not dead in Sweden.
