About Laura Ellen Watson
Affectionately known by some as Mother Hawkesford. A temperance and suffragette activist and a mid-wife trained by her mother, Eliza.
Laura in New Zealand later trained her youngest daughter, Maud Eudora, in mid-wifery and early childcare to help Laura with her caseload and subsequently was mid-wife to May, wife of Ben Anderson, and delivered her twins Matty and Betty.
