Lawrence Dinwiddie, here treated, was probably an incomer to Glasgow. Certainly, he was not admitted as a burgess and guild brother of the burgh by hereditary right. He was enrolled as a burgess and guild brother on 22 January 1695 by right of purchase. Glasgow Burgesses, 1573-1750: 235
