About Lauretha ‘Lowry’ Moon
Lowry Humphrey married Simon Moon.
Birth: 1704 Pennsylvania, USA Death: 1747 Arden Berkeley County West Virginia, USA
Lauretha was born in either Scotland or Philadelphia, but in either case grew up in Pennsylvania. She was married to Simon Moon at Christ Church, Philadelphia, on September 27, 1721. They lived in Simon's log house in Bucks, which is preserved in the Fallsington Historic District, then moved to Chester County, where some of her children were born. In 1740 she moved with her husband and children to the new Quaker settlement in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. She died sometime prior to February, 1748, when her husband made out his will.
She gave birth to the following children, and perhaps others: Anna (1722-1789) Richard (1724-1795) James M (1727-1798) Hannah (1729-1799) John (1730-) Jacob (1731-1804) Margaret (1731-1838) Mary (1733-1750) Rachel (1734-1804)
Two of her daughters, Hannah and Margaret, married sons of Thomas and Ruth Brown, and migrated to North Carolina, where they helped found a new Quaker settlement.
