Laverna 'Verna' Beatrice Crabtree Boirum Evans

The daughter of Tobias Holiday Staats and Samantha N. Chapman, Lavena was born and raised in Greene County, Illinois. Her father was a farmer.

She married Norman Jackson Crabtree in 1909 or 1910. He was the son of Jacob Benjamin Crabtree and Nancy Lucinda Day.

Norman died on 27 Dec 1910.

Children from first marriage: None.

Lavena married Claude Alvin Boirum on 11 Mar 1911 in Morgan County, Illinois. He was the son of William Alexander Boirum and Harriet Agnes Kinser.

Lavena and Claude were the parents of 2 children. The family moved to Madison County, Illinois in the early 1920's.

Lavena and Claude divorced in September of 1929. He died the following year.

Children from second marriage: 2 daughters.

After Claude's death, Lavena married (Unknown) Evans.

Children from third marriage: None.

As her health began to decline, she became a resident at Elder Care Nursing Home in Alton, Illinois. She died there at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 17 days.

She was survived by 2 daughters; 3 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on 17 May 1971 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, Illinois. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. the following afternoon at the Wood River Assembly of God Church.
