Well Known Women's Death Causes Great Shock
Mrs. Lavina Horrocks, wife of John Horrocks died at the family residence at 1079 Twenty-second street at 7 yesterday morning. The immediate cause ot death being heart trouble. The death of Mrs. Horrocks was very unexpected and comes as a great surprise to her many relatives and friends. She is survived by in addition to her husband several sons and daughters. The deceased was born in England, July 22 1837 and came to Utah with the pioneers and has lived in Ogden ever since.
The remains were removed to the Larkin undertaking parlors to be prepared for burial and the funeral serviceswill be held at the late home of the deceased on saturday at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Interment will be in the Ogden City cemetery.

Lavinia Mitchell Horrocks (1837 - 1905), daughter of Hezekiah Mitchell (1810 - 1872) and Sarah Mallinson (1810 - 1883), was born 22 July 1837 at Sheffield, York, England. She was baptized at the age of ten as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) on 4 July 1847. She emigrated to Utah from England in 1854 with the James Brown Company. Two years later she married Captain James Brown (1801 - 1863), on 7 September 1856 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were sealed in the Endowment House on 27 March 1857 by Heber C. Kimball. They had two children. Following the 1863 death of Captain Brown, she married (2) John Horrocks (1836 - 1906), on 20 January 1865 at Ogden, Weber County, Utah Territory. Lavinia died at the age of 67 on 16 March 1905.
