Lawson, Lawrence E: (unconfirmed; 1919-2001); h/o Verla; “A memorial gathering for Lawrence E ‘Larry’ Lawson, a former Davenport resident, is scheduled at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at the San Poil Grange on Creamery Road in Republic. Mr Lawson died June 8 at his Republic home. Born Sept 9, 1919 in Spokane to David S and Myrtle O (Delehay) Lawson, he moved to Rice, WA, at the age of 6 and attended school there. The family moved in 1929 to Davenport, where he graduated from high school. He married Verla V Sterrett on Nov 12, 1938, in Coeur d’Alene. Together they farmed in the Davenport area until 1965. They then made several moves within Washington and Idaho before making their home in Republic in 1987. They owned and operated the Pine Grove Junction store with the help of their son, Clifford Lawson, in later years. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a hunter and avid gold miner. He was preceded in death by his son, Clifford, in 1995, and a daughter, Nita Lawson in 1975. He leaves his wife, Verla, at the home; six daughters, Beverly Widmyer of Colville, Ardie Schmitz of Elk, Nancy Robertson of Seattle, Shari Chappell of Spokane, Tudy Stallman of Republic, and Rhonda Johnson of Spokane: three sons, David Lawson of Salmon, Idaho, and Mel and Bill Lawson, both of Spokane; 19 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
