About Lawrence Sanders
Lawrence Sanders, came to Carolina from New Amsterdam in 1677. His father, Thomas, had emigrated from Amsterdam in 1636, and had married in 1640, Carnelise yon Gorcum (?). Thomas's great grandfather 14. Lawrence Sanders had been martyred in the religious wars in England, being burned at the stake at Coventry in 1356, after which his family fled to Holland. He married Sarah Erpe, an apparent widow who arrived in Charles Towne 1670 with a sister-in-law and daughter or niece. Lawrence and Sarah's children: 1. Capt. John b 1670 m Mary Snell; 2. ancestor William m Mary Perriman (both died in Mar 1717 when revolting Indians went on a rampage in the Low Country and attacked them and several family members at Sanders Plantation)
Lawrence Sanders arrived in America in 1678. He was from Dinton County, Buckingham, England. He received a Land Grant between 1678 and 1704 in St. Bartholemew Parish, SC later known as Round O Plantation.
