Lawrence Thornton McBurney Sr. "Sgt. Mac", 81, of Lorena, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2013, at a Waco hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 14, in the Mausoleum at Waco Memorial Park. Military honors and entombment will follow.

He was born in Worthville, Kentucky, to the late Harry and Antoinette "Nettie" McCreary McBurney. He married Addie Faye Causey on December 19, 1953. He joined the United States Air Force in 1951 until his retirement in 1974. Larry and Faye owned and operated Sweet Air Incorporated in Hewitt until the present day. Larry was a member of the DAV and VFW.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Addie, on May 22, 2003; and his son, Lawrence Thornton McBurney Jr.

Survivors include daughter, Diane Ferguson and husband, Roy, of Lorena; daughter-in-law, Tammy McBurney, of Carrollton, Kentucky; grandchildren, Michael Ferguson and wife, Amber, David Ferguson, Chad Ferguson and wife, Alicia, Samantha Grochoske and husband, Joel, Kristina Kight and husband, Kevin, Amber Buchanan and husband, Matt, Heather Ray and husband, John, Ashley Schooler and husband, Anthony; great-grandchildren, Colton, Katrina, Brody, Bella, Quinton, Danielle, Owen "Thornton", Gryphon, Addison, Sophie; brothers, James McBurney and wife, Murial, of Tamales, California, and Robert McBurney and wife, Becky, of Carrollton, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews, and his loving family and friends.
