LAWSON MINERD
Lawson Minerd, 84 years old of Mill Run, died Thursday afternoon at Connellsville State Hospital where he had been a patient for 10 days of complications.
He was born October 24, 1859 in Somerset county near Kingwood the son of the late Charles and Adeline Harbaugh Minerd, and located in Fayette county near Maple Summit at the age of eight where he spent the greater part of his life on the farm on the Old Turkeyfoot road.
A farmer, he had retired 18 years ago when he moved to Mill Run. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Letitia Steyer Minerd; two children, Ward of Mill Run and Freed of Buffalo, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, one Delbert E. Minerd, serving with the Army in the Hawaiian Islands, and two great-grandchildren. He was a brother of Mrs. Martha Gorsuch of Somerset and Mrs. Joseph M. Luckey of Dawson.
The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon with a brief service at the home at 2:30 o'clock and full rites at the Mill Run Baptist Church at 3 o'clock. Rev. Paul A. Morris of Everson, former pastor of the Mill Run United Brethren Church will officate. Burial will be made in the Mill Run Baptist Cemetery in charge of Funeral Director Clyde B. Brooks of Indian Head.
