LeRoy was a dairy farmer and the nephew of Congressman Tinkham and during the era of Prohibition he took his hay wagon and went to the jail. He took the men who were arrested for the consumption of alcohol and they hid in his hay wagon. He then was best remembered for taking them home to their door as they were ashamed of their activities. Later on they rehabilitated and became local politicians. He also had a green thrumb and eveything he planted grew and he shared seeds with gardeners for the Canton Doctors and others. During the depression he and his uncle Congressman Tinkham went into South Boston where his dairy customers were and helped the community with home and plumbing repairs as they could not longer sell milk for lack of dry ice to keep it fresh during the war times. They are remembered by the South Boston Irish Community.
