About Leander Gridley
Leander Gridley came into this village (Waterville) some years since, from Vernon, where he had lived from boyhood. The late Hon. Philo Gridley of Utica was his brother. He is precisely, to a day, the same age as Aaron Stafford.
A trio of aged men. Aaron Stafford* was 85 years old on the 18th day of March last. Leander Gridley, brother of the late Judge Gridley, was also 85 years of age on that day. Na-thaniel Putnam, father of Geo. Putnam, Esq., was 85 years old on the 7th of last May. These three persons have long been residents of our village and are still in the enjoyment of pretty good health. The family of Mr Stafford have, for many years, been accustomed to make a demonstration on each occur-rence of his birthday, and this year it consisted of a meeting of these three aged persons at the house of Mr Stafford where a dinner and a day's entertain-ment was prepared for them. The meeting was a pleasant one and it is a comfort to the friends and relatives of these venerable persons to know that they are quite happy in living out their declining years of life, now far beyond the appointed lot of man.
