She married SAMUEL R. CARDWELL March 24, 1897 in Shelby County, Kentucky. He was born abt. 1860 in Shelby County, Kentucky, and died April 21, 1917 in Shelby County, Kentucky.

Cardwell, age 47, a widow, head of the household, a daughter, Thelma C., age 21, employed in a store (unreadable), a son, Roger A., age 18, employed as an electrician (?), a daughter, Anna E., age 16, a daughter, Ada B., age 14, a son, Lloyd S., age 10 and a daughter, Sarah, age 7.

The 1930 census for Ward 6, Jefferson County, Kentucky lists Nora E. Cardwell, age 58, head of the household and a widow, a son, Roger, age 38, single, an electrician, a daughter, Ada Belle, single, employed as a bookkeeper at a beauty salon, a son, Lloyd, age 19, single, a clerk in a lawyer's office, and a daughter, Sarah, age 17. Nora Cardwell owned her home which was located on Second Street. MRS. NORA CARDWELL (from the Louisville Courier Journal, Sunday, June 29, 1952, Section 1, p. 26) Mrs. Nora Cardwell, 80, died at 11:45 a.m. yesterday at her home, 1401 S. Brook. A native of Woodford County, she was a member of the Fourth Avenue Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, S. Lloyd Cardwell and Roger Cardwell; three daughters, Mrs. R. D. French, Mrs. Ann Noble and Miss Ada Cardwell; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at Owen Funeral Home. The 1900 census for Clayville District, Shelby County, Kentucky lists S. R. Cardwell, age 41, head of the household and a farmer, his wife, Nora, age 27, and a daughter, Thelma (?), age 2. Also living in the household were a brother, H. G. Cardwell, age 49, and a brother, George Cardwell, age 44. The couple had been married for four years and had only the one child. The subject page from the 1910 census for Clay District, Shelby County, Kentucky is very badly faded and difficult to read. Sam R. Cardwell, possibly aged 50, a farmer, married for 13 years.

His wife's name is Nora, possibly aged 38, mother of five children, all still living. Two daughters and three sons, the youngest son is named Sam, but the rest are unreadable. There are two older adults in the household who are presumably Albert McGee and his wife, Ann, but their names are not legible. Albert (presumably) is possibly 74, married once for 49 years, and was born in West Virginia. Ann is 70, mother of six children, five of whom are still living, and was born in Kentucky. LDS records that Sam Cardwell died in 1917. Nora Cardwell was shown as a widow in the 1920 Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky census. (See notes for Nora McGee)
