location of Coppersmith Station (aka Coppersmith's ranch at the southern end of Surprise Valley in Lassen County
The 1880 census places the immigrant German William Coppersmith family in Tuledad precinct of Lassen. His house may have been along modern Tuledad Road (modern state road 506) = Lassen County
California
41.031367, -120.086465 , but the Paiute camp site was probably on the northern downslope of Coppersmith Hills in Surprise Valley a good bit north of William Coppersmith's dwelling. The Coppersmiths left these hills for Reno by 1900.
