About Leewkje "Lucy" De Jager
After an illness of a few months, Mrs. Wiltje De Jager, 81, died July 5 at 2:15 a.m. in the Martin De Jager home.
She had lived with son-in-law and daughter since the first of March.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 8, in the Martin De Jager home at 1 p.m. and at 1:30 in the First Christian Ref. Church with Rev. R. Bronkema officiating. Burial will be in the Orange City cemetery with the Van Etten Funeral Service in charge.
She was born in Holland, October 21, 1862.
She came to this country as a young woman and settled here with her husband, Siebe Sybesma, and two children. The children of this marriage are Gertie, Mrs. De Jager, Jennie, Mrs. George De Vries, both of Orange City; Steve Sybesma of Sheldon; Maggie, Mrs. Henry Kramer and Elizabeth, Mrs. Gt. Kroeze, both of this place.
One child, Cornie Sybesma, died March 2, 1939, near Carnes.
Her husband died July 27, 1894.
She was married to Wiltje De Jager in 1898, and to this union were born three children: Emma, Mrs. John Kamstra of Craig, Lucy, Mrs. Charles Kuhl of Middleburg, and Peter W. De Jager of Maurice. She also had three step-children: Mrs. Herman Vander Bilt of Prinsburg, Minn., Mrs. Nick Dykema and Mrs. Ben Dykema both of Roseland, Minn. Mrs. Vander Bilt and Mrs. Ben Dykema are deceased.
Wiltje De Jager died April 18, 1943.
Also surviving are 49 grandchildren and 40 great grand children. One brother, Eltje Jager, lives in Orange City.
