In the bp. record of his dau., Susanna, Jan Crommel is described as a "mulatto at Hakkinsack." In the record of their dau. Fannie’s baptism, they were “Joh. Cromwell and Lena, free negroes living at the Bullen, between Wihhaken and Tappan.
