She was the daughter of Alphonse Peter and Emma Maria De Groote Ginneberg. Irene’s father was born June 10, 1887 in Adeghem, Belgium, the son of Jan Baptiste and Barbara Ehersia Parydaen Ginneberg. Irene’s mother was born May 6, 1885 in Ursel, Belgium, the daughter of Mefarfus and Maria Mathil de Brussel De Groote.

On Feb. 26, 1920 in Marshall County, Iowa she married SAMUEL BURTON "Burt" JENKINS, born Oct. 19, 1892 in Marshall County, Iowa, son of Cyrus P. Jenkins and Martha Ellen Males, and died March 17, 1981 in Park Falls, Wisc. Lenna and Burt are buried in Glendale Cemetery, Le Claire, Iowa. Sons Robert and Eugene are buried in Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Rock Island County, Ill.
