About Leo Senn
Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Leo Senn, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Discovery Care Center in Hamilton, Montana. He was 89 years old. Burial at the Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery, Missoula, Montana.
Leo was born August 18, 1922, in Glen Ullin, North Dakota, to Adam and Veronica Senn. He moved with his family to Hamilton, Montana, in 1937.
In August 1944, he joined the United States Army and served in Germany; where, after World War II, he served as a translator assisting in the exchange of U.S. and German prisoners of war. Leo worked in the dairy business making cheese starting at age 16 until his retirement in 1984. During his long career in the dairy business, he saw many changes in ownership; was transferred twice, first in 1953 to Ronan to manage a cheese plant, and then in 1975 to Lemoore, California, where he retired. Following his retirement, he moved back to Hamilton to be near family and friends. On October 4, 1943, Leo married the love of his life, Althea Murphy. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and gardening. He was always ready for a game of pinochle.
Survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Althea Senn; childrenL Charlotte Senn, David (Sherril) Senn, Donald (Kris Bakula) Senn, Steven (Cheryl) Senn and Bert (Denise) Senn; siblings: Josephine (Buford) Raabe, Adam (Bertie) Senn and Ralph (Jeannine) Senn; grandchildren: Nathan, Jason, Adam, Althea and Xena; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Anthony, Joseph, Valentine and Victor; and grandson, Ian Senn.
