Leon B. Laraway, of Latham, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at St. Peter's Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Albany. Born in Lyons, N.Y., son of the late Frederick and Genevieve Deseyn Laraway, he resided in Green Island for many years before moving to Latham 20 years ago. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Leon had been employed by the Norton Company in Watervliet for over 40 years, retiring in 1985. He then worked as a security guard for Burns Security for 10 years. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Green Island and a former member of the Catholic War Veterans. Survivors include his wife, Fran Maiello Laraway; three children, Joanne (Bob) Lajeunesse of Cohoes, John Laraway of Latham and Maryanne Martin of Clifton Park; and five grandchildren, Cindy Lajeunesse, Stephanie and Samantha Laraway and Michael and Lisa Martin. He was predeceased by his siblings, Esther Smith and Donald and Albert Laraway. Funeral from the McNulty Funeral Home, 147 Hudson Avenue, Green Island on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and at St. Joseph's Church, Green Island, at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie. Calling hours will be on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions, in memory of Leon, may be made to St. Peter's Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 301 Hackett Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
