Leona H. Whinery, 89, Chanute, Kansas, died Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at Chanute Healthcare Center.

She was born March 20, 1917, at St. Paul, Kansas, the daughter of Jeff and Iva Allen Dent.

She married Fred Lindquist in 1935. They were later divorced. She later married Gus Whinery. He preceded her in death in 1998.

She is survived by a son, Gary Lindquist and his wife, Linda, Eagle River, AK; a stepdaughter, Vickie Sutherland, Oak Grove, MO; a brother, Everett Dent, Rockport, MO; two sisters, Georgeanna Hathaway, Chanute, KS and Pauline Drisdell, Parsons, KS; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Joe Lindquist.
