About Leoppoldine "Lola" Waldstein

cf. IKG-Wien Archives & family sources:

Lola was married to Fritz WALDSTEIN on 30th. July 1932 (according to her letter from Wien to Lisl Walk in Oxford, dated 18th. December 1976, which is posted under "Media" on her husband's page.***)

She was buried in Wien, Zentralfriedhof T1/55a-1-5.

Note: N.B. buried in same grave as Rudolf ZYKA (?-1873) & Leopoldina ZYKA (?-1869) - her parents.

  • **Alas, Lola WALDSTEIN doesn't provide any details on her own ancestry. But there is a small clue to pursue towards the end of her missive ... (so far the mission to follow this lead has failed but maybe some time in the future a find can be made) ...

Extract from her letter from Wien, dated 18th. December 1976, to Lisl WALK in Oxford (cf. under "Media" on her own Profile here):

Transcript of original German: " ... Nun noch am Rande: von Deinem Grossvater Dr. Edmund Wengraf hab ich in meiner frühesten Jugend gehört ohne es zu wissen, dass ich später mit ihm fast ein bisserl Verwandt werde. Mein Großvater mütterlicherseits war Herausgeber der Sonn- und Monntagszeitung und dein Grossvater hat im Namen der Concordia am Grab meines Grossvaters die Abschiedsworte gesprochen. Die Welt ist klein, nichtwahr! ..."

Translation into English: "And now a little note in the margin: in my earliest youth I heard about your grandfather Dr. Edmund Wengraf, without knowing that one day I'd become just a bit "related" to him, myself. My maternal grandfather was publisher of the Sunday- & Monday- Newspaper and on behalf of the Concordia it was your grandfather who delivered the farewell speech at his grave. It's a small world, isn't it!!..."
