About Leroy Royal Whipkey
Waynesburg- Leroy (Royal) Whipkey, 79, of 197 E. Greene St., Waynesburg, died at 10:27 AM. on Friday, March 20, 1981 at the Greene Co., Memorial. Hospital following an extended illness.
Born March 28, 1901 in Calhoun, West Virginia, he was a son of the late William and Ida Roberts Whipkey.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Kight Whipkey, whom he married June 22, 1928.
He spent his early life in the Nettie Hill and Enon communities, and resided the past 25 years in Waynesburg.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Waynesburg, and was involved in farming all his life.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Norma) Phillips of Follansbee, W.Va. and Alvina Phillips of Waynesburg; three sons, Guy B. of RD 3, Waynesburg, Hillard H. and Aubry L., both of Waynesburg; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by a son, Millard G.; three sisters, Ella, Leona and Goldie; and four brothers, Fred, Glen, Harold and Doad.
