Lester Leonard was a shoemaker, carpenter, and entrepreneur. In the twenty's he told of being a window washer in Milwaukee, and falling several stories from a building into the Michigan River and his whole life flashed before him. In the twenty's he drove surreys as a jockey in horse racing. In the 30's he was a fighter and known as the Missouri Kid and developed quite a reputation for himself. He & his wife Opal owned one of the first Laundramats in Hastings Nebraska back in the 50's. At that time they also owned a two apartment buildings, a grocery store, shoe shop, and figurine shop. He was also a Chiropractor in the late forties through the fifties. He also was a back yard minister who could deliver quite a sermon. He used to say he was a Jack of all trades master of none.
