Levi Bigelow

16164.1 Levi 6 BIGELOW, son of Nathan 5 (John 4 ,Joshua 3 , Joshua 2, John 1), and Elizabeth (OAKS) BIGELOW, was born 13 July 1771 at Ashburnham, Worcester county, MA. On 25 February 1798, he married his first cousin, Lucy Sampson, daughter of Jonathan and Mary (Oaks) Sampson (their mothers (Mary and Elizabeth Oaks) being sisters). (Marriages to 1850 gives the marriage date as Feb. 25, 1785, and Intentions as Aug. 5, 1797. Obviously an error here, on these dates.) Lucy was born 12 May 1775 at Ashburnham. She was a descendant, through her father, of Myles Standish of the Mayflower. They lived a few years at Ashburnham, then removed to Crown Point, Essex county, NY. They were among the very early landholders of the township. Levi died there 26 August 1825; she died 23 April 1835.
