Death: Aug. 1, 1852 Platte Center Platte County Nebraska, USA

Levi was born to his parents, William and Mary Garrison Bracken. His father died when he was only 2 years old leaving Levi and his one brother, Thomas for their mother to raise. His mother took the little family to Ohio with her father and brothers. Tragically, she passed away when Levi was only 5 years old and was raised by his grandfather Garrison and his uncles. He married Elizabeth Clark abt 1810 in Missouri. They moved to Rush County Indiana and here they heard the gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and was baptized. In due time, he became a bishop. They moved to Nauvoo and were driven from their homes. They fled to Council Bluffs/Kainsville Iowa and settled there. They were very active in both civil and religious affaris. In 1852, they prepared to begin the trek across the plains to the Great Salt Lake Valley in Utah. Levi served as Captain of the 2nd ten of the 16th Company under Captain Uriah Curtis. By July, they reached the Platte River in Nebraska. There was a great deal of sickness among the saints and many died in unmarked graves. Levi contracted cholera and passed away 8am the morning of August 1, 1852. He is buried at Loup Fork, along the Platte River in Nebraska in an unknown and unmarked grave.
