About Levi Hershberger, Jr.
WOOSTER — Levi Hershberger Jr., 83, of Wooster passed away on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Clarence, N.Y., on April 12, 1934, to the late Levi and Malinda (Miller) Hershberger and married Anna Miller on Oct. 8, 1953. She died June 20, 1994. He then married Esther Hochstetler on Dec. 26, 1997, and she survives.
Levi served in alternative services in Columbus from 1953-1956 and was ordained a minister in 1956. He had served as pastor for Pleasant View Mennonite Church near Berlin, Calvary Chapel Mennonite Church near Mount Eaton and Fairlawn Mennonite Church in Apple Creek, retiring in 1995.
He also retired in 2015 from Southeast Local Schools as a bus driver.
Levi was an avid golfer. He studied, taught, played and loved the game.
In addition to his wife, Esther, he is survived by children, Rebecca Gray of Mount Vernon, Priscilla Hershberger of Lakeville, Naomi (Jonas) Troyer of Orrville, Steve (Tammy) Hershberger of Apple Creek, Grace (Bruce) Gerber of Worthington and Phil (Naz) Hershberger of Wooster; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Miller of Millersburg.
In addition to his first wife, Anna, he was preceded in death by sisters, Edna Burkholder, Ada Hershberger and Katie Miller; and brothers, Noah, Dan and Roman Hershberger.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. at Fairlawn Mennonite Church, 8520 Emerson Road, Apple Creek, with Pastors Duane Detweiler and Steve Bixler officiating. Burial will be held prior in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, Feb. 6, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the church. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling the arrangements.
