Mr. Levi Stephen Lovelock, only brother of Mr. Isaac W. Lovelock, of Newbury, Palmerston North, died at Palmerston North last Monday after a'.lingering.illness'. ...The late Mr. Lovelock was born• in Wellington on June 6, 1840." His parents arrived in Port Nicholson in the ship Bolton early in 1840, and landed on the shore at Thorndon Quay, aud lived a short time in Bolton Bow, which consisted of s row of toitoi huts, erected for the accommodation-of. .the passengers under the bank near where the City Tramway offices now .stands. . Mr. Lovelock was, born there, and was thb first European cliild born in Wellington. He lived all his lifejn Wellington and the Palmerston North district, and was greatly respected. He was uirmarriad, and is survived by one brother, Mr. I. W. Lovelock, , of Palmerston North, and two sisters (Mrs. William Tonks of Wellington, and Mrs. David Thomas, of CartertonV The late Mrs. Edward Collins, of Palmerston North, was his eldest sister. The body was interred in the Bolton Street Cemetery, Wellington, last Wednesday by the side of his parents and a sistet who died in 1R47. Tho Rev. A. M. Johnson, of St. Paul's pro-Cathedral officiated, at the graveside.
