Obituary from Wofford College obit index, Southern Christian Advocate. Greenville, SC, Thursday March 27, 1913. Vol 76, Nr. 41.

"Mrs. Levina Caroline, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Patrick, and widow of the late H. M. Sweat, was born in Dorchester county, near Summerville, S. C., June 3, 1834, and died October 7, 1912. Her marriage to Mr. Sweat was in February 16, 1854. She joined the Methodist Church in early childhood. Her life was one of piety. At the tie of her death, she was a member of Boone Hill church. When she was able, she was ever in her place. She loved her Church, and was loyal to her pastor. There was always a warm place in her heart and home for her preacher. Her Bible was always convenient. Her reading matter consisted principally of her Bible and Church paper. She never allowed her subscription to run out. Her life was somewhat like a sunbeam--no noise, just shined, never a cloud, always bright and cheerful. All who knew her loved her. She was so amiable and cheerful that even the young people loved to be with her. She was a neighbor always ready to render aid to the needy, sympathetic to the sick and sorrowing. A loving mother and a devote Christian. She is sorely missed in the Church and community. She lived to a ripe old age--more than seventy-eight years. To her death was a triumph. It had no sting to torture her. She went to sleep as peacefully as a child in her mother's arms. While we mourn her departure, angels and love ones rejoice on her arrival to the city of rest and bliss. J. R. Copeland.
