Lewis B. Ferguson

Lewis had a Blacksmith Shop. Lewis Ferguson was found in 1870 South Carolina census, Chester Co., #102. His will is recorded in Mecklenberg Co., North Carolina. Bk L page66 dated April 17, 1886. Name often spelled as Louis in documents. Erin Ferguson still lives on the property of Lewis on Ferguson Road in Mecklenberg, Co., NC. Lewis moved from land on both sides of Flat Creek, Lancaster Co., South Carolina, between highway 903 and "40 Acres Rock" to Clear Creek, Mecklenburg Co., North Carolina in 1854. It was said that he moved 17 miles south of the SC/NC state lines, and moved 17 miles north of the state line on Rocky River Road. His son Pleasant also moved there, along with John Franklin (age 6 yrs old). Lewis' land in SC was sold to his brother in laws, William and John Gregory (deed book Q, page 597, Lancaster Co.). Lewis can be found in the 1830 1850 Lancaster Co., SC census, but he is not located in the 1840 census in SC.
