In 1835, William "Little Willie " Hayden of Marion County (formerly Washington), Ky and his half-brother ,Lewis Hayden,Sr. of Nelson Co..Ky. came to Daviess Col.Ky and purchased over 3,000 acres of land , each approximately one-half, in Western Daviess County, south of Panther Creek.

Wm."Little Willie" Hayden brought his wife, Mary Hayden-Hayden (his 2/m), and their 13 children , his married son, Jerome Hayden by his (1/m) to Anna Pike, His Mother- in- law . Eleanor Elliott-Hayden widow, of Charles Hayden and all of their children, married and single, and settled on hiS property in 1835. " Little Willie's" home was the Mass Station until 1844 when the first log cabin church, St. Raphael the Archangel, was built- it was a mission church.

Lewis Hayden,Sr. remained in Nelson Co, Ky but several of his children came to Daviess Co, Ky and settled on his land

On this 1876 Map, page 51 Here are some of the descendants of "Little Willie" and Hayden descendants to whom he sold his land as they arrived shortly after 1835:

1. C.L. ( Charles Leo)Hayden , 253 acres, bounded on North and West by Panther Creek and A. (Alvin) Hayden, 175 acres on South and A. (Alexander ) Settles 116 1/2 acres on South and west He is the youngest child of "Little Willie " and Mary (his 2/m) Charles Leo m. Mary Malissa Coomes and this is where "Little Willie" died.

2.H.N.(Henry Napoleon)Hayden, 147 1/2 ,bounded by Jas. Furnett, 103 1/2 acres , on North and West: J.t. Fowler, 50 acres, and W.e.O. hungate, 80 acres , on West; Frank Fulkerson, 55 acres on south; and W.B (s/be W.C.-William Columbus "Lum")Mullican on south and east. Henry Napoleon is s/o William "Big Willie" Hayden & Nancy Ann "Hayden" 2nd cousins married. This is the homestead of his father and his mother "big Willie" and Ann Hayden-Hayden. Henry Napoleon married "Ellen"Cerene" Ballard.

Note the school house on his property called "HAYDEN SCHOOLHOUSE". Hayden C. Thompson, born 31 Oct 1895, Grandson of Henry & Ellen Hayden, went to school in early 1900's at the Hayden School House! In the 1980's this structure was still standing - had been remodeled and a family lived there. It was a one room schoolhouse..

There was a COAL MINE on Henry Napoleon's property and in Henry's will (D:34) , written 2 Sep 1881 and proved 19 Sep 1881, he states :..../"And I will to my wife all of the proceeds of the Coal -Bank tract of land and Coal -Bank untilMy youngest child Thos. Henry (born 11Jan 1876-ftl). becomes at the age of 21 years. and then the said Tract of Land and Coal-Mine is to be sold. (one-half of the coal-bank belongs to Wm. Burnett for six years ) and the money devided among my wife and children....

4.Hayden Heirs ( The six (6) children of Henry Napoleon and Ellen Cerene Ballard-Hayden-FTL), 30 acres, bounded by Jas. Burnett, 103 1/2 acres, on North and West; Panther Creek and T.Mattingly, 188 acres , on East; and J. T. Fowler on South. This 30 acres is part of Henry Napoleon Hayden's property.

5.Jas. Burnett, 103 1/2 acres, bounded by A. Hayden, 175 acres, on North and West; Pather Creek on East; Hayden Heirs, 30 acres on west and South; H.N.(Henry Napoleon) Hayden;, 147 1/2 acres on East and South; and A. Settles ,116 1/2 acres, and J. L. Lanham, 100 acres ,on West. Jas. Burnett is bother to William Burnett and according to census , they were born is Scotland , as well as their parents. (no relation to Hayden that I have found.FTL.

6. Frank Fulkerson, 65 acres , bounded by H.N. Hayden, 147 1/2 acres on North and W.E.O.Hungate, 80 acres, on North and East; St. Raphael Church Land, 200 acres, and T.L. Hart, 100 acres, on South; and W.B. (S/BE) W.C. - William Columbus "Lum") Mullican, 160 acres, on West. (no relation to Hayden that I have found. FTL).This is "Francis" Kendrick Fulkerson s/o Thomas Fuldkerson (m) Lucinda Hagan . Frank (m) Sarah Ann Coomes. I"ll bet Frank Fulkerson's children attended the "Hayden School House" since it is on the property adjoining his farm. end of page 4...
