He was on the tax rolls of Madison Co, VA 1793-1804. He was on the 1810 census at Madison Co,VA. He moved to Shelby Co KY by at least 1817.
In 1828 he bought land in Callaway Co, MO, near Fulton and moved to MO by 1829. He appears on the 1830 census at the Fulton MO location. in 1852 he bought land in Marion Co, MO, apparently for his daugther Nancy. He died at that location in 1857 but is buried at Fulton, Callaway Co, MO.
He was a member of the Baptist Church.
There were two black girls related to this Lewis Overton line, by DNA evidence. They were Adelina (Ada) Overton, b 1859 and Rhoda Overton b 1863. They must have been his granddaughters thru one of his sons.
