About Deacon Lewis Porter
Lewis Porter was a staunch member of the Baptist Church. He was appointed clerk of the Seneca Baptist Association in 1811 and served with slight interruption until 1846. Deacon Porter was very punctual in attending the meetings of the church and painstaking in his report of the proceedings. From a contemporary he was reported to have been "very choice" of the church book, usually carrying it wrapped in large silk handkerchief.
