About Joel Porter
Joel was the son of John and Dinah (Thomas) Porter. About 1813, he married Betsey or Mary Ann. We have not proven if they are the same person or if Joel was married twice. A possibility for the maiden name could be Bradley, based on the middle name of their first son, Nathan. He brought his family to Wisconsin in 1848, purchasing 120 acres in the Township of Trenton. He and his wife had 5 children, Matilda, Nathan Bradley, Miner, John and Almina. Joel was a farmer, well to do in the world and highly respected by his neighbors.
