About Lieut. Arthur George Aldridge
Arthur George Aldridge was born at Nelson in the Tasman region of New Zealand's South Island on 11 February 1885. He was the son of Thomas Alfred Aldridge and Amelia Aldridge (nee Rowley) who had married in New Zealand on 19 November 1883. Arthur worked as a engineer for the Railways Department. On 11 March 1915 Arthur and Ada Vernon Young married. During World War I Arthur served with the Auckland Infantry Battalion, 6th (Hauraki) Company. He was wounded at Gallipoli on 8 August 1915, and died of his wounds on board the hospital ship Valdivia. Arthur was buried at sea and is remembered on the Lone Pine Memorial, [Panel 72.].
